Congratulations to our 7th Grade Girls CYO Basketball Champions!!!
CYO BASKETBALL
The CYO is the Catholic Youth Organization of the Archdiocese of New York. It promotes a basketball sports program in the parish. It provides opportunities for students in grades 2 through 8 to join in this healthy and exciting sport. Second grade girls and boys may participate in the Basketball Clinic where they learn the fundamentals of the sport. Grades 3 through 8 practice weekly and compete in basketball games with other church teams in the county.
Volunteer male and female coaches are recruited by CYO leaders to train the students, to teach them sportsmanship, and teach them to work hard. All CYO volunteers undergo "Safer Spaces" training and a complete background check as mandated by the Archdiocese of New York.
Practice sessions are held Monday through Thursday in the school gymnasium from 6:00PM to 10:00PM, and Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00PM to 10:00PM.
The most important lesson CYO seeks to achieve is to teach the students how to respect one another, other teams, the officials, and the people in attendance. Coaches also serve as team role models in showing the proper manners of sportsmanship and fair play.
This program has fee related expenses and required application and medical forms must be completed for enrollment.
Congratulations to our 5th Grade Boys for winning the
Upstate and County Basketball Championship!!!
