Saint Augustine’s Social Action Committee is a committee under the auspices of the Parish Council. The committee’s yearly activities reflect the social conscience of our parish. Yearly, it holds blood drives during the months of February, August, and October. On the Sunday immediately preceding Thanksgiving, the committee holds its annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive. In addition, the committee holds special drives such as the Backpack Drive where new school supplies were handed out to the poor and needy children of Rockland County. See the Directory under the "HOME" page for the contact information.
The Social Action Committee is always looking for volunteers who would be willing to help us carry out some of our existing initiatives, as well as some new ones we are getting ready to roll out. Can you spend 20 minutes after Mass at the sign-up table for our blood drive, make a few phone calls from home, or perhaps deliver some collected items to a charity? Any time you have to help would be greatly appreciated as many hands make light work. We welcome all volunteers, including high school or college students looking to earn some community service hours or spruce up a resume or college application. Please contact Ann Marie via text or phone (914-548-7910) or send an e-mail to [email protected]. Thanks very much for prayerfully considering helping those who need a hand up.
